6) Should there be more entertainment type news or college related news?

Textual Analysis of a Student Magazine

Initial Ideas for Student Mag

Initial Ideas for Student Mag

Target audience - Students (16yrs - 20yrs)

Name of mag.... Maybe - LSM (Ludlow Student Magazine)

Masthead - My masthead will be something that really stands out against the rest of the cover, i'll do this by making it bold and use colours that catch the viewers eye like yellow or red. The name of the magazine will be something short or maybe use abbreviations.

Central Image - The central image of my cover will be of a typical student that links to the splash, maybe someone who has been to the college and has now gone on to do good things at uni. Either a blank background or in an area related to Ludlow college e.g. at the gates, or in their department which they have excelled at.

Splash - The splash will be about something that makes students want to go further with their education. It will be about something positive like former and current student achievements and changes in college.

Puff - A typical voucher for WHS Smith or The Works.

House Style - I'll stick to simple colours like white, red, blue and yellow. This way it gives the cover a minimalist style that seems quite modern and up to date.

Brand Identity - The masthead font will continue throughout the cover on coverlines etc. Using colours like blue and silver will make the viewer associate the magazine with Ludlow college. Using the college logo will also help the association.

Coverlines - covering topics that will appeal to students in Ludlow e.g. college shows, sport events. Give a little info about the topic - make it short, funny, and witty.

Mode of Address - The writing will be informal and personal. It will appeal to the target audience and sound modern and jokey.
